Studio Week ⁓ Summer MAKING

Studio Week: Summer MAKING

Making is more than producing finished work. It is the practice of remaining in conversation with what wants to be created. During this week, you'll join a live opening Zoom gathering and receive gentle daily prompts designed to help you return to your creative practice with curiosity, steadiness, and trust. Together, we'll explore what it means to make art that feels alive, one thoughtful step at a time.

The Zoom session will be on Friday, July 24 at 11:00 AM PST.

Bring a cup of something warm (or cold), a few sheets of paper, and a pen. Arrive as you are. We'll steep, notice, and begin together.

FAQ

  • What is Studio Week?

Studio Week is a five-day creative retreat you can participate in from your own home. Rather than focusing on productivity or finishing projects, we'll spend the week making. Through a live opening session, daily prompts, and gentle structure, you'll return to the ordinary practice of creating.

  • Do I have to be a professional artist?

Not at all. Studio Week is for anyone with a creative practice, whether you're a writer, painter, actor, musician, fiber artist, photographer, designer, or simply someone longing to make things again. You don't need experience. You only need curiosity.

  • How much time should I set aside each day?

Most participants spend between 30 minutes and 2 hours each day. The daily prompts are designed to fit into real life. Some people work for a short session. Others happily disappear into their studios for the afternoon. You choose what works for you.

  • What happens in the WhatsApp group?

The WhatsApp group is the heart of Studio Week. Each day I'll post prompts, encouragement, observations, and small invitations to notice what is happening in your creative life. Participants often share photographs, discoveries, works in progress, questions, and moments of delight. There is never any pressure to post. Many people participate quietly while still feeling deeply connected to the group. The group remains focused, supportive, and wonderfully free of social media noise.

  • What if I can't participate every day?

That's perfectly fine. Life happens. If you miss a day, simply rejoin when you're able. The goal isn't perfect attendance. It's returning to your practice with kindness rather than guilt.

  • Will I receive recordings?

Yes. The opening Studio Week gathering will be recorded, and you'll have ongoing access to it afterward so you can revisit it whenever you like.

  • Do I need special supplies?

Only whatever you normally use to make your work. Bring your notebook, sketchbook, paints, camera, knitting, script, instrument, laptop, or whatever belongs to your creative practice. Studio Week is about using what you already have, not buying more.

  • What happens after Studio Week ends?

ou'll keep lifetime access to the Studio Week video and prompts so you can revisit the experience whenever you need a week devoted to making. Many participants also continue with The Artist Almanac, where we meet each lunar cycle to support a sustainable creative practice throughout the year.
